Meet the Family!

Hello! My name is Shareen!  My kids have paws, so nothing too crazy to relate to.  Let me introduce you to my family! I have one dog and two cats (just adopted the second the other day actually), all boys. Each one of them either found me or happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Edgar, the pup, was my first fur child. He's 3, and I’ve had him about 2 years now. I found him wandering around some farmlands while visiting friends. He was a mess. After months of trying to find his owner, I finally took him as my own. He’s a cuddle bug but tries to act tough. For some reason he finds comfort in holding the daily paper hostage.

Six months after I found Edgar, I heard scratching at my back door.  I went to see what it was, I found Napoleon, this handsome Persian Longhair.  He was just yelling - so much meowing out of this little cat. I felt terrible for him. I opened the door a little wider and he came right inside. Thank goodness I had an extra can of tuna in my cupboard. He hasn’t left since. I made flyers, called shelters, and no one came for him. He mostly just lays around during the day, and keeps active at night. I swear he is on a mission or something because he just does not stop from sunset to sunrise. The vet says he’s around 4 now. He’s gained a few pounds over the years but he's still as stealthy as ever.

Edgar and Napoleon love barking and angrily meowing at each other. It is a constant back and forth and I'm the referee. Fortunately though, they always settle down eventually, then stare out the window for hours not making a sound. I can only wonder what is going through their minds.

Until last week, it'd just been the three of us. I was with family when my sister told me her neighbor had a family of kittens on their property and was looking for people to adopt them. Only, on my drive up to go see these kittens, I saw this little cat’s face peaking at me through some branches on the side of the road. I pulled over and met Orion. This tiny skinny young cat who was pacing back and forth around the side of the road looking lost.  This was in the middle of nowhere.  I had to take the poor thing home with me. After a few moments of him getting used to my scent, he let me pick him up and bring him home. (If you're wondering about all those kittens, they all found homes.)

So far, Napoleon hasn’t even noticed a new cat in the house.  Edgar, however, has taken a liking to little Orion. He is always leading him around the house and making sure he knows the ropes.

From my fur family to yours,

Shareen
